The Kohl Lab is hiring a “Research Technician” but below this title is a hybrid of the following responsibilities:
Laboratory Management: tasks include ordering lab supplies, animal care, preparing for lab inspections, upkeep of inventories, records, and permits, and general lab organization
Microbiology Researcher: tasks include aerobic and anaerobic culturing of isolates from the guts of wild animals, and downstream functional characterization (with special interest in fiber-degrading capacities). Potential for independent projects here.
Assistant Laboratory Instructor: tasks include assisting with a Microbiology Lab course during the Fall semester, where students will culture microbial isolates from guts of wild animals. Students will also generate independent projects under our lab’s guidance.
